To the Himalayas….with love!

“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” – John Muir

Few experiences in the world can match the ecstasy of sitting in a lime green meadow in the highest alpine mountains with wildflowers and ponies for company. Stretching over 2,400 km along the subcontinent, home to over 100 peaks higher that 20,000 ft and boasting 15,000 glaciers, the Himalayas offer much more than a series of geographical superlatives.

Think natural beauty in liberal doses, think mysterious forests, think landscapes that vary every 10 km, think about the humble scale of the peaks, think vast, high-altitude deserts, think unique wildlife and tremendous rivers, and you might begin to understand why I gravitate towards these enormous giants.

A wise mountaineer once said, “There are two kinds of climbers, those who climb because their heart sings when they are in the mountains, and all the rest”.

Mountains provide an abundant supply of moment that fill you with sudden joy and a surprising desire to pause life and set adrift on an exploration, an adventure and set aside the comfort of the mundane routines, the drone of the To Do list, the rushed breakfasts and dinners.

I urge you to get lost in the world out there, soak in the magic that showers down you this very moment…..let it wash all over you!
